Melanie is a Sheffield born and based professional actress, writer and theatre maker/event organiser.

She graduated with a First Class Honours Degree from the Performance for Stage and Screen Course from SHU.

In her early creative career, Melanie has produced and starred in her own one woman show; “Trompe L’oeil” as well as producing “SOS FEST” a local Sheffield New Writing Festival, appeared on BBC’s Tomorrow’s World and occasionally performs as her lip-syncing cabaret-style alter ego for which she came in 3rd place at the Great Yorkshire Show Off Contest

Described as a “one woman army”, Melanie has single-handedly set up her own event; “Sheffield Monologue Showcase (SMS)” that premiered last March, with lots of feedback noting of it’s success.

Her recent work as an actor has been voice work for an international art installation premiering in Venice and compering for talent at the “SMS” evening.

Melanie is also known for writing for the stage with her most note-worthy piece “The Sylvia Swing” performed at the York Theatre Royal’s Take Over Festival 2019 and The Lantern Theatre’s New Writers Festival 2019 in Sheffield.

Melanie would like to venture in gritty BBC dramas as well as build up her comedy character repertoire in theatre.

She is also interested to create more original theatre to tour and continue to set up “SMS” showcase events for local actors.
