About Melanie

Melanie Hopkins studied at Sheffield Hallam University on the BA Honours 'Performance for Stage and Screen' course, gaining a First Class Honours.

A gifted playwright, producer and performer she has successfully developed a six-time-sold-out cabaret show: Karma Leon's Kabaret, as well as have her playwriting premiere at venues such as Manchester ADP, Theatre Deli Sheffield and York Theatre Royal.

Originating from Sheffield, Melanie values the importance of community and creating opportunity for everyone to be seen.

Skills & Experience

Melanie has been self employed for 5 years working on TIE productions with Performance in Education (PIE), completing various voice over work including for the prestigious Venice Biennale, working with Sheffield City Council and University of Sheffield for their medical and social role-play work and successfully gained funding from The Arts and Culture Worker Fund for her project Sheffield Monologuse Showcase.

Melanie can be seen featured on BBC's Tomorrow's World, BBC Upload Festival and even published in The Survivor Zine, a limited edition zine of work from sexual violence survivors.
